DAY TRIP TO MARDİN/MİDYAT

Day 1: MİDYAT - MARDİN 10/05/2025

We will depart at 03:30 local time and aim to arrive in Midyat at approximately 08:30. After enjoying breakfast, we head to the Midyat Bazaar. Here, we will explore the bazaar on foot, known as the center of the silver filigree craft in our country. During the free time provided, guests can shop, and we will visit the famous Sıla Mansion from the popular TV series Hercai. 

 

After completing our visit, we will leave Midyat and proceed to Beyazsu for lunch. Following lunch, we will head towards Dara Ancient City. This enchanting site, with its cave dwellings, tombs, churches, cisterns, and the underground "dungeon city" known among locals, will remind us of the ancient city of Ephesus in Selçuk. After visiting Dara, we will continue to Deyrulzafaran Monastery. 

 

After the monastery visit, we will find ourselves in the magnificent old streets of Mardin. We will continue on foot through the historic streets, stopping at a location where you can purchase local products (almond candies, saffron tea, dibek coffee, etc.). We will then proceed through the bazaars of Mardin and visit the Grand Mosque (Ulu Cami), which houses the sacred beard of Prophet Muhammad. 

 

Next, we will tour the PTT Building, which has been featured in many films and TV series. From there, we will see the Şehidiye Mosque panoramically before visiting a living museum housed in a two-story stone mansion built 400 years ago. Here, we will observe traditional arts such as lead pouring, copper craftsmanship, filigree, and Reyhani dance. 

 

We will then pass through the famous Abbaras, a symbol of Mardin, and meet our vehicle to head to our final stop, Kasimiye Madrasa. After concluding our tour, we will begin our journey back to Elazığ. (A short stop in Diyarbakır may be included if time permits.) We expect to arrive in Elazığ at approximately 23:00.
